Doctor in Police Net for removing Man’s Kidney

A medical doctor, Hassan Yakubu has been arrested by men of the Adamawa state police command over the removal of a 24-year-old man’s kidney at his Jimeta clinic.

The doctor was alleged to have mistakenly evacuated Isa Hamma’s kidney whom he was supposed to treat over some stomach complications.

Yakubu, is currently being interrogated for alleged kidney theft by officers of the criminal investigations department of the command.

Trouble started three days after Hamma left Yakubu’s clinic, when he couldn’t urinate and later his legs and face started swelling.

The state of the victim’s health caused his relatives to return him to the Jimeta doctor, who referred them to the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe.

The family was told Hamma’s Kidney is missing and was also placed on dialysis at FMC, Gombe.

The doctor’s arrest was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa state command, Othman Abubakar, on Tuesday.
