A young man is cooling his feet at the police custody now after carrying out an abortion that lead to the death of his girlfriend in Ekiti.
The 21-year old man identified as Olarewanju Olorunfemi was arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Magistrate’s court on Monday with his 18-year-old female accomplice Sadiat Akeem for carrying out an abortion that lead to the death of 18-year-old Fumbi Taiwo.
According to the police prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo, the accused committed the offence on May 25 at Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of Ekiti state.
Olorunfemi who was the boyfriend of the deceased with the help of Sadiat, the friend to the deceased, 'helped' Taiwo with an abortion.
The accused persons were said to have committed an offence contrary to Section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.
Leranmo told the court their case file have been duplicated and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The plea of the accused were not taken as their counsel, Mr Tunde Olayemi, sought for a date of adjournment pending the advice of the DPP.
The Magistrate, Ropo Adegboye, ordered the remand of the duo in prison and adjourned the case till June 22 for further hearing.
