200 women across the 18 local government areas of Ondo State will be trained by a non-profit organization, Tech4Dev, on Information and Communication Technology under a programme known as Nigerian Women Techsters .Read Also: Google Appeals Against €2.4bn EU Fine
Aside from Ondo State the firm said it would also train 7,000 women from 11 states in the NWT programme.
Speaking with journalists in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Programme Manager of the NWT initiative, Miss Peace Odili, said the programme was partly funded by Microsoft, and will train 7,200 women between ages 18 and 40 on coding skills across 12 states in Nigeria for a period of three years.
According to her, the beneficiaries would come from Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo, Edo, Kogi, Kwara, Abia, Imo, Rivers, Kano, Kaduna and Kebbi States.
Odili explained that the participants would take online courses in entrepreneurship and change making, and physical training sessions at the weekends facilitated by professionals in the ICT industry.
