If you wear a bra, the chances are you've been wearing one for so long you barely give it any thought .Unless, size or shape-wise you've fluctuated dramatically, you probably buy a new bra on auto-pilot.Do you like it? Yes. Is it in your size? Yes.But according to the 'Bra Whisperer', aka Chantelle Crabb, many of us are in fact doing ourselves a disservice by choosing the wrong bra every time.

Regardless of the size of your breast , a bra should be supportive and there are two main criteria in which we're failing.

Luckily, Chantelle has highlighted these two areas and offers some guidance on what to do.
1. The back band

As well as being the 'Bra Whisperer', Chantelle is also the PR and Marketing executive at Curvy Kate , and she told Revelist , "The biggest mistake women make when buying bras is choosing a back band which is much too big for them."

Signs that the back band is ill-fitting are if it curves upwards at the back, or of the under-wiring digs in.

According to her guidelines, we need to reduce our back band by TWO sizes.

This then means we need to go up by about to two cup sizes to "even this out".

So, for example, " if a woman thinks she’s a 34DD, chances are she's more like a 30F." Which brings us on to the next point nicely...

2. The cup size

Now there's a relationship established between the size of the back bad and cup size, you need to address the latter.

As Chanetelle points out "The cup size (the letter) makes no sense unless it is teamed with a back band measurement (the number)."
For each 'letter', from A onwards, there's no one specific size of breast. It actually depends on the size of body too. So a 34 B and a 40B would not equate to the same volume of breast.

You should know if you've got the cup size right if it covers the entire breast with a smooth 'uplifted' appearance - and no bulging over the top. Nor any gaps between the breast and cup, either.
