Meat Loaf collapsed on stage during a concert on Thursday night. The 68-year-old singer - real name Michael Lee Aday - was performing in Edmonton, Canada, when the incident took place.

Concert goers tweeted pictures and video from inside the venue at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium where he could be seen slowly falling to the floor.

"I'm a paramedic," someone shouts as his band members and tour team rush to his aid.

Other pictures show an ambulance arriving at the auditorium.

His condition is currently unknown.

Lindsay Sundmark told the Edmonton Journal he collapsed just after 9:30pm. Fans were told to clear the venue shortly after.

“He was performing I Would Do Anything For Love, and all of a sudden in the middle of it he collapsed right on stage. We weren’t sure at first whether it was part of the act or it was something for real,” she said.

Another fan said he didn't appear well during the show, writing on Twitter: “Meat Loaf did not look good 2nite. Was worried he wouldn’t last. Left moments b4 he went down. Had a bad feeling (sic)."

"Oh man that's a scary thing to watch Meat Loaf collapse like that. Hope he is OK," shared someone else.

Other concert goers said they didn't realise how serious it was and thought the collapse was part of the show.

“It looked at first like he was just being theatrical and lying down on the stage,” Britt Brewer explained.

On Monday the star, who has previously collapsed during a performance, cancelled a show in Calgary at the last minute due to illness.
