Money Laundering: Court Orders Forfeiture Of Diezani Madueke’s N325.4m Land

A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the temporary forfeiture of a piece of land belonging to former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison Madueke, to the Federal government.

The land located at Plot 13, Block II, Oniru Chieftaincy Private Family Estate in Lagos State, is valued at N325.4 million.

Justice Babs Kuewumi made the order for the forfeiture following an ex-parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) counsel, Mr. Anslem Ozioko.

Ozioko told the judge that the land was suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of crime. He told the court that the land was discovered while the anti graft agency was investigating an ally of the former minister, Donald Amamgbo.

Justice Kuewumi also directed the anti-graft agency to publish the temporary forfeiture order in a national daily to put interested parties on notice.

He adjourned till July 14, for anyone interested in the property to appear before him to show cause why the land should not be permanently forfeited.
