Footballer slumps and dies during match in Osun

A football player in Osun State simply identified as Damilola has died after he allegedly slumped on Monday, September 7, during a football match in the state’s Ido area.

Late Damilola, who plays for Premier Football Club Ofatedo, was about to give his teammate a free-kick during the match when he slumped in.

Eyewitnesses say he was rushed to a nearby hospital but was rejected and then rushed to the University of Technology at Ladoke Akintola where he was certified dead.

His team members say before the match he has never shown any signs of illness.

The Osun Grassroots Football Coaches Association’s coordinator, Leke Hamzat, has confirmed his demise to newsmen.
