Police Reveals What Will Happen To Arrested Protesters

According to Premium Times , Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the spokesperson for the Lagos police command,

The police will charge 30 protesters to court on Friday, October 2, for unlawful assembly,

The police accused the protesters of engaging in conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace.

Security officials also alleged that the group violated the COVID-19 protocols in the state.


The protest, which took off from Ojota around 9:30 a.m, proceeded to Maryland.

Police Officers Halted the protest and arrested 30 protesters.


The police command had earlier issued a warning against gatherings or protest on Independence Day,

“The Lagos State Police command has arrested 30 protesters at various locations within the state for unlawful assembly and

conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, and other offences including violation of COVID-19 protocols/laws in the state,”

police said.


The commissioner of police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, also warned parents and guardians against any rallies, protests.

The commissioner told the parents or guardians of any youth arrested for such act will be prosecuted.


The protesters, however, defied all odds and continued with the protest.
