A new parenting class is being offered to single Japanese men to help them find a wife.
The class, called ikumen, is supposed to be an added certificate that bachelors can add to their marriage “resume” when working with matchmakers.
It includes lessons on how to bathe, feed and change the diapers of a newborn, as well as activities that let the men experience what pregnancy feels like.
A recent study found that almost 60% of unmarried men between the ages of 18 and 34 in Japan aren’t even dating. That fact alone may very well make the class, priced at 30,000 yen, or $390, worth it. It’s the first class of its kind to be held in Tokyo.
